On April 26, 2017, Himalayan Rescue association Nepal (HRA) and Association of Kailash Tour Operators, Nepal (AKTON) jointly organized a day training programme on “High Altitude Sickness” to train Guides and Leaders who go to Kailash Mansorowar. Training programme was held at the HRA Head Office, Dhobichaur, Lazimpat, Kathmandu.

In the beginning of the programme, Chairman Mr. D.B. Koirala welcomed all the participants an briefed about the HRA’s work and also highlighted about the training programme, CEO of HRA Mr. Prakash Adhikari presented about the role of HRA in saving lives in the Himalayas. Dr. Santosh Banya and Dr. Bidur Prasad Pandit were the resource person who gave training on the following topics:
1.    Physiologic changes in high altitude are acclimatization.
2.    AMS: Pathophysiology, clinical features and treatment.
3.    HACE : Phathophysiology, clinical features and treatment.
4.    HAPE: Pathphysiology, clinical features and treatment.
5.    Hypothermia, Snow blindness, sunburn.
6.    Frostbite/Traveler’ Diarrhea
7.    Demonstration of PAC Bag and Oxygen

There were 26 participants. At the end of the training programme. Vice Chairman, Mr. Narendra Deo Bhatta thanked to all the participants and provided the certificate to the participants.
