Mountain Rescue Training to Nepal Police

The Himalayan Rescue Association Nepal has organized eight days training workshop on Mountain Safety and Rock Climbing course to Nepal Police, Department of Disaster Management, Dillibazar on 19th to 26th January, 2015. The training course highlighted on Acute Mountain Sickness, HAPE, HACE, Snow Blindness, Frostbite, Hypothermia and its symptoms, treatment and prevention. The use of Oxygen, applying Oxygen to the patient in remote location was demonstrated and Gamow Bag demonstration was also included in the training. The theoretical explanation and practical demonstration was focused in the training. Similarly, rock climbing course was also taught to the participants. All the basic knots and familiarization of ropes and climbing equipments were taught at the ground of Nepal Police, Department of Disaster Management office in Dillibazar and practical practices were done in the natural rock face of Nagarjun cliff. There were 24 Nepal Police participants actively participated in the training.

Mr. Prakash Adhikari covered the topics of Acute Mountain Sickness, HAPE, HACE, Snow Blindness, Frostbite and Hypothermia. Mr. Gobinda Bashyal provided training to the participants about how to use the Oxygen to patients, applying Oxygen to the patient in remote location and its demonstration and Gamow Bag demonstration. Chief Instructor Mr. Padam Ghale and Instructors Mr. Tul Singh Gurung, Mr. Pemba Ongchhu Sherpa and Mr. Pasang Kaji Sherpa took active role to teach and provide extensive training to Nepal Police participants.

Thus, HRA organized such training to Nepal Police first time in history. Such training not only builds up participant's ability to treat and rescue a person safely but also creates new techniques and knowledge to the participants as well as encourages to do rescue in emergency situation.
