The History of Pheriche Aid-post is as old as the inception of the HRA in 1973. Daniele Laigret, a French nurse, was the first volunteer at Pheriche. It was in the early fall season of 1973. Later in the fall of 1973 another volunteer nurse Dolly Lefever from USA went to Pheriche. A wonderful Sherpa man was hired at that time to help the clinic. His name was Tashi Sherpa. The Himalayan Rescue Association (HRA) aid post in Manang was opened in November 1981, in Nepal Mountaineering Association building at Sabje near Humde Airport. In 1985, the HRA moved into a rented building in the village of Manang. The beautiful new clinic building in Manang, funded by the British Embassy, was completed in 1991 and provides much better services to the patients and better living quarters for volunteer doctor.
